DOS Meeting April 14, Gates Hall

April’s meeting will be a three station round-robin workshop.  Those attending will be split into 3 groups and will rotate from one station to another every 20 minutes.  Great for new members, beginner and intermediate growers.

Station #1 – Jojo deBeaubien will be demonstrating mounting an orchid on a piece of cork, tree fern or other suitable material.  Some orchids just don’t adapt to growing in pots so mounting is the best alternative.  20 minutes

Station #2 – Taylor Crawford will be demonstrating the ins and outs of growing orchids in terrariums.  He has a miniature glass terrarium and the required materials. He will go over each material, their strengths and weaknesses, their uses, ways to install, methods of mounting, and design. It’ll be brief, but people will have a much better understanding of Orchidariums.  20 minutes.

Station #3 – Keith Funk will be covering insects and diseases and the simplest ways to deal with these potentially devastating isues.  Easy to find products, both organic and synthetic.  20 minutes.

We intend to make this meeting available through zoom so watch for the zoom link if you are unable to attend in person.  The link to the recording of the meeting will be available via our Google Drive or by request.Speaker to be determined. Please check back.
